The Crest was designed by Earl Nisbet in 1958 for Mr. and Mrs. Sai Chow Doo, of Honolulu. It is located on a cliff at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, with floors cantilevered over the edge of the cliff. Because of the ravenous Hawaii termites, no wood was used in the construction, only steel and concrete.
A carport and storage rooms are on the driveway level, with open stairs leading down to the entry. The house provides a nearly 180-degree view of the ocean; on the top floor are three bedrooms and baths. The dining and living room areas are on the next level down, along with a balcony overlooking two terraces and the ocean.
On the third level are a leisure room and kitchenette, and from there outside stairs lead to two barbecue terraces and the koi pool.
